PETRONAS Lubricants International (PLI) will be putting its fluid technology to test through the PETRONAS De Rooy Iveco team, which will be competing in the 41st Dakar Rally Raid in Peru from 6th to 17th of January.
PLI, as title and technical sponsor of the team for the eight-consecutive year, will once again play a key role in providing PETRONAS Fluid Technology Solutions™ specifically designed to provide reliability, engine protection, enhanced efficiency as well as performance not only for the Iveco Powerstar trucks in Dakar, but also their fleet globally.
To support the rally trucks battling extreme pressures in the competition, PLI will provide PETRONAS Urania lubricant, co-engineered with, and recommended by Iveco for their range of light and heavy-duty vehicles; as well as PETRONAS Tutela transmission oil and coolants.
Led by Gerard de Rooy, as well as teammates Ton van Genugten and Maurik van den Heuvel, the PETRONAS De Rooy Iveco squad is completed by Federico Villagra and look set to soar in 2019 as they did in 2018’s Africa Eco Race, and the Dakar races of 2012 and 2016 respectively.
In 2018, PETRONAS successfully launched the PETRONAS URANIA E3 portfolio co-engineered with Iveco to meet Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) specific requirements for sustainable transport — testament of PLI’s commitment to emissions reduction.
In the coming season, fans of the PETRONAS De Rooy Iveco Team can look forward to exclusive behind the scenes updates from the Dakar through PLI’s Urania Facebook page.
